Established by William the Conqueror well over 900 years ago, Windsor has been home to English sovereigns ever since and has played an essential role in British heritage. Famous attractions range from the Chapel of St George, second only to Westminster Abbey as a royal mausoleum, the State Apartments, Queen Mary’s famous doll’s house and the Albert Memorial Chapel. The Queen uses the castle both as a private weekend home and as a royal residence where she hosts visiting heads of state. Hever Castle and Gardens, Kent

The childhood home of Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry VIII and mother of Elizabeth I, Hever Castle is now a visitor attraction with exhibits, a Tudor manor house and impressive Italian gardens. The castle runs a series of summer weekends and open days, including jousting tournaments, complete with a royal box, and Tudor falconry displays.

Arguably the most flamboyant of all the royal palaces, George IV’s former seaside retreat boasts Disney-like minarets and exquisite Chinese-influenced interiors, mirroring his extravagant tastes. Hatfield House

Part of the exclusive ‘Treasure Houses of England’ group, Hatfield House is a 400-year-old Jacobean mansion owned by Lord and Lady Salisbury. The State Rooms, used by the monarch of the day to entertain the Royal Court on its visits from London, are splendidly decorated with fine art, furniture and tapestries. From the King James drawing room, which hosts a life-size statue of James I built into the chimney place, to a collection of armour made in Henry Vlll’s workshops, the house is full of royal treasures. Buckingham Palace, London

Buckingham Palace is located in the City of Westminster London UK, the palace is usually in the middle involved with state celebrations and noble hospitality.
